Braised Brussels Sprouts

1 pound brussels sprouts, trimmed
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup water
1 tsp butter

If the brussels sprouts are large, cut them in half lengthwise.

Place everything but the butter in a large pan or skillet that will accommodate the sprouts in one layer. Bring to a boil, then cover and cook 8-12 minutes, depending on the size of the sprouts. Test for done-ness, then add butter if desired.
