Swedish Cardamom Rolls

Dough:
1 1/4 cup warm water (105° – 110°)
4 1/2 tsp dry yeast
6 tbsp sugar
6 tbsp melted butter, cooled
3 eggs
1 1/3 tsp salt
1/4 cup powdered milk
5 cups flour (up to 1.5 cups whole wheat)

Filling:
8 tbsp softened butter
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp cardamom seeds, ground fine
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
grated orange or lemon zest

Toppings:
1 egg
1 tbsp water or milk
sugar for sprinkling
