Vegetarian Breakfast Patties

1 cup brown rice, cooked (measure before cooking)
3/4 cup rolled oats
1 tbsp ground flax seed + 3 tbsp water OR
1 egg
1 tsp molasses
1 tbsp safflower oil
2 tbsp nutritional yeast
1 1/2 tbsp tamari
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tsp black pepper
1 1/2 tsp ground sage
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp thyme

If using flax instead of an egg, stir together flax and water in a small bowl or cup, set aside.

In a food processor, pulse dry oats until they are a coarse flour Add the rice and pulse a few more times.

Add remaining ingredients including the flax/water mixture or egg and blend until just mixed.

With dampened hands, form balls the size of a ping pong ball and then flatten into patties.

Fry the patties in oil on each side until they are browned.

If preferred, bake in a 400 degree oven for 15 minutes on each side.
