Easy Chocolate Fudge

From NY Times:

4 tbsp butter, plus more for greasing the pan
1 lb chocolate, combination of semisweet and bittersweet
14-oz can sweetened condensed milk
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Melt butter and chocolate together. Add condensed milk and salt and stir until combined. Heat as little as possible. Add nuts if desired.

Scrape into a prepared 8×8-inch pan, coated with butter and lined with parchment paper.

Chill for about 4 hours. Lift fudge out of pan and cut into squares.

NOTE: 2024 Add vanilla? Other flavorings? Mint? This is a very easy and basic recipe.

From Ghirardelli:

4 oz. 100% baking bar
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
14-oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Prepare as above.
