French Toast

Amounts listed are enough for about two slices of bread. Multiply as needed.

1 large egg
1/4 cup Half & Half
1/6 tsp grated orange rind
1/8 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp honey
1/8 tsp salt
2 slices firm white bread, sliced about 3/4″ thick

Mix all ingredients except the bread, using flat pan and a whisk.

Soak the bread in the egg mixture until the liquid is soaked up, about 5 minutes.

Heat a bit of oil and a bit of butter in a large saute’ pan. Add the soaked bread and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.

Keep warm in a 250° oven if needed as you cook additional pieces of soaked bread.

Serve with maple syrup, or optionally with raspberry preserves and/or confectioner’s sugar.
