Oven-Baked French Toast

8 slices sourdough French bread, 3/4-inch thick
2 tbsp melted butter
2 tbsp white sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
3 eggs
3/4 cup orange juice

Preheat oven to 425°. Pour melted butter into a pan large enough for all 8 slices of bread. Swirl to coat the pan.

Mix the cinnamon and sugar together, then sprinkle it over the butter in the pan.

Separately, beat the eggs with the orange juice. Dip each slice of bread in this liquid, 15 seconds per side, then lay the bread in the prepared pan.

Bake for 10-12 minutes on each side, or until firm and lightly browned (20-25 minutes total baking time).

Top with powdered sugar and fresh fruit.

May 1991 Delicious, using whole wheat French bread. 8 slices fit in a 9×13-inch pan.
